What are the best types of dance shoes?
We generally recommend proper dance shoes for students who are keen on improving their dancing, as these shoes will aid the movements that we teach. Flat shoes or street shoes
however, are a good start for beginners. For the ladies who are keen on wearing heels, we always recommend that you wear a pair that are no more than 3 inches high and with a support strap around the ankle. We also prohibit the use of stiletto heels within our studio as these shoes
cause considerable damage to our floor and are also dangerous to dance in.
We also suggest that you avoid shoes with a rubber sole or a wide rim as these shoes tend to
stick to the floor, making it quite difficult to move.

Do I need to bring a partner?
No you don't. You don't need to bring a partner to learn to dance as your teacher will be able to dance with you and instruct you during the lesson. You will also have your teachers and other students to dance with in group classes. Even students bring a partner to learn with will have the opportunity to
dance with other students as this is a great way of developing the art of leading and following.

How long will it take to learn the basics?
Usually 2-4 Lessons. We find most of our students are able to pick up the fundamentals of partnership dance within 4 private lessons. This includes the ability to dance a few basics steps, with a good sense of timing and with a basic understanding of lead/follow and technique. Of
course some students will learn these fundamentals faster, as they may have some prior dance experience or may have a
musical background. Other students who have had little or no experience with dancing, will still
find that they pick up very quickly with our teaching methods and with a little more practice begin
to master the basics!

What dances should I learn?
The dances you choose are entirely up to you and you may pick any combination of dances that
you wish. The most useful social dances tend to be Salsa, all Swing, Cha Cha and Rumba as these take little dance floor
space and the music at clubs, parties, dinner dances and weddings tend to play music that are suitable for these dances.
We generally suggest Foxtrot and Box Rumba for absolute beginner's as these dances are simpler and less complicated than many of the other dance styles.
We generally recommend 1 to 2 dance styles for absolute beginners, 2 to 6 for beginner's to intermediate and up to 10 for advanced students! Your will
happily give you a description and a demonstration of any dance style that you may be interested in to help you decide.

What is the average age within your studio?
25 - 55. Most of our students are within the 25 to 55 age bracket,
however our youngest student is in
their mid-teens and our oldest students are over 70. Aside from the wide variety of ages
within our studio, you will find that our studio has a very friendly and relaxed environment, so you will fit in
no matter what age you are!

Can I pay as I go?
Yes you can. We are very flexible when it comes to your payments, so you are most welcome to pay as you go. Paying as you go will not disadvantage you in anyway, in regards to the free services that our private lesson students receive.

Do I have to book in a fixed appointment or do regular classes?
No you don't. You are more than welcome to book in your private lessons whenever you please and we do not require you to fix a permanent time slot. We understand that you may have work, family and
other commitments that may make it difficult to keep regular appointments.
