Salsa
The Spanish word 'Salsa' means 'sauce' and it refers to the hot and spicy rhythm of the dance. Although Cuba serves as Salsa's foundation, many other influences have had an impact on this dance, such as the New York & LA styles. Salsa is a 'free-style' or 'street dance', free and spontaneous with no set routines to follow. Although Mambo is its parent dance, the music of Salsa is fast and vibrant, denoting a free-flowing feel. Continuous and complicated arm movements, as well as cross leads and shine work make this dance one of the most popular in the world. |
